Neptune Pine: A Removable Smart Phone For Your Wrist

Neptune’s new full-featured Pine Smart Watch should start shipping sometime in January, 2014, according to their CTO, Aaron Wilkins.

The Pine is the first North American smart watch that requires no companion phone, because it is a full-featured Android smartphone in its own right – complete with speakerphone, headset and a full QWERTY keyboard on-screen. Just add a micro-SIM card to activate.

According to Neptune’s Kickstarter page, the Montreal-based company has already exceeded its fund raising goal by several orders of magnitude. As of December 2, they’ve raised over $440,000 out of an original goal of $100,000.
